Mediation: Connecting to the Breath and Body
I have been practicing meditation and mindfulness for over 30 years. I had many teachers from a variety of traditions. I have experience with secular mindfulness but I have also explored nonsecular mindfulness traditions, including Buddhist, Hindu, Shamanic, Taoist, and Tribal teachings. Beyond mindfulness meditation I have been shaped by my experience identifying as an African American male of West African and European American parents. I am definitely sensitive to the challenges of existence in the world through those lenses. This also gives me insight into what itโs like to be a member of other marginalized groups. At the same time I acknowledge how my white European background has also shaped who I am and feel this gives me a unique perspective into both cultures. On the flip side I also understand the isolation and that having more than one identity can create. Society wants to be able to neatly categorize everyone which can be difficult for those of us who defy simple categorization. This is a microcosm of the isolation most people feel on some level. I've found that this is just one of the many challenges my mindfulness practice can help me with. If you resonate with any part of my story and would like to work with me please don't hesitate to get in touch. : )
anyone who wants to explore the profound benefits and simple but not easy techniques of mindfulness. I'm a seeker of knowledge and wisdom. This has led me down many paths but thankfully they all led me to the simple but profound way of being that mindfulness meditation teaches. The beginning of this journey was mostly solo and while extremely valuable once I started practicing with others my practice was elevated to a new level. The gifts were even more profound and synergistic. So anyone who wants to explore how to develop and deepen their practice is someone I very much want to connect with.
